InspirationEdit

Given GoW's numerous pop cultural references, is Baird, or at least the physical appearance, based off of Charles from Penny Arcade? --ARTaylor 00:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd have to give that an emphatic no. God no, Hell no, and FUCK NO, would also suffice. Id have to shoot myself if my favorite Gears character was based off anything from that GOD-AWFUL excuse for a "comic". 99.147.124.73 14:30, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: Insparation Edit

He looks alot like CID from Final Fantasy (he's a 2003 character) KRYPTON SPARTAN 3:45 PM 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Holy Crap!?!?

QuotesEdit

I thought it was Marcus that said "eat shit and die." I think he says it in GOW2, when Ben Carmine (?) says something about the Locust eating Imulsion. Something like "They can eat shit and die for all I care." --blue.insanity.child. 8:51AM. 11 March, 2009. (UTC)

Everyone says it randomly during combat. Marcus also has the quote you just mentioned. So yeah... Screennameless - "Goodnight, everybody!" 19:31, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Is there some sort of taboo now on Gears 2 multiplayer quotes? I tried adding some of the funny ones from Baird's repetoire and they were deleted almost instantly.--86.155.211.160 08:13, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

In short, yes. Basically people were adding everything that anybddy ever said, for instance "Shit" said if failing an active reload. So it was decicded that quotes for multiplayer would only be allowed if they character defining. The problem there is what one person calls defining might not be what another person calls defining. Generally they're just removed, --EightyOne (talk) 09:59, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

"No, you don't understand: they hate me, they're still going to shoot." Not only is this a misquote from gears 2 multiplayer, it has also yet to be deleted despite the fact that every COG in multiplayer says something very similar to this. If the deleter thinks THAT quote is more defining than some of the ones that decent contributors have added then either the deleter was the one who made the quotes section in the first place and wants to keep out all other contributions in some wierd bout of pride or there are serious inconsistencies with this 'defining quotes' criterion you're talking about...--86.155.211.160 22:43, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing out the MP quote, we try our best at maintaining the wikia but we can't be everywhere.--Jack Black 22:54, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
could someone add " its the only catwalk sam's gonna be on," to the notable qoutes section when baird, cole, carmine and san are on the senteniel bridge on gow 3.. i think that, that one is quite a goodun'  Benjamino95 (talk) 12:41, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

BioEdit

Break it down into

  • Lightmass offensive (GoW1)
  • Aspho Fields (book)
  • Hollow (comic)
  • Operation Hollow Storm (GoW2)

--Jack Black 03:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Should I include the fact that he was the leader of Alpha squad since he was the one who was talking over the communication device when calling delta squad. I only notice squad leaders talk over communication devices. (AtheistMetal)

  • Probably not as even though that is observant, it's not necessarily true because people who aren't in charge have talked over it as well, such as Ben Carmine and Dizzy. It'd also make Hoffman's decision to put Marcus in charge of Delta Squad after Minh's death even stranger if there was a squad leader already present in the operation. Rank Edit

If the book states that Baird is a corporal during the second game, why does the article still refer to him as a private? 68.33.88.16 22:36, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Might I ask which page this comes from? The book was set in between Gears 1 and 2, and so would not talk about the second game. --EightyOne (talk) 23:30, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I have no idea. The article here, however, states that "during the second game Baird is reortedly [sic] a corporal as it states in the the book." 68.33.88.16 00:33, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain that Baird is consistently a private, especially if he remains with Delta - Dom is already the corporal and there's no need for two. However, it has been stated by developers that Baird constantly bounces up and down the ranks - the former for his intellect, the latter for his bad attitude. -Screennameless
What Screen said.Baird rank gos up and down so fast I don't what he is.--Jack Black 02:52, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
If you can find dialogue/cutscene from GoW2 saying his rank it would help.--Jack Black 04:43, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm in the middle of another playthrough, so I'll keep my eyes peeled. Recalcitrancy 05:41, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, just finished Jacinto's Remnant, and it states that he's a corporal -- and the book takes place after GoW2, so... Recalcitrancy 04:04, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Assigned Edit

It might be just me, in the categories it says that Baird is a Pendulum Wars veteran, but I thought he assigned to be a Gear on E-day, or am I wrong?--Domin1200 15:06, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

A source said (I forgot which one), that Baird was serving in army long as Marcus. I believed one of the books thou.--JacktheBlack 15:22, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
In Barren Issue 4, page 11 or so, after Alex asks if Baird is next in line for command while Marcus is down, Cole answers her with "Nah, Dom was a Commando way before me and Baird signed up on E-day..." I'm not sure, it could be your right aswell. Just sayin'. Also because Baird actually wanted to become an engineer instead of joining the army, but his parents eventually forced him by saying he wouldn't get anything from the inheritence if he didn't.--Domin1200 16:56, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
I'd know about the comic saying Baird joined after E-Day, but I will look up in the books about baird being in the army as long as Marcus. It did not imply that he fought but it goes along "wear the armor along as marcus" in that matter. So in short we may have a canon conflict.--JacktheBlack 17:51, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
Aspho Fields has Bernie mention that Baird has been wearing the armor almost as long as Marcus. I think it was near the end of the book.--The Forgotten Jedi 18:25, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
Alright, I do believe you of course. I just happened to notice it today.--Domin1200 18:33, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm almost does not state he did served during the Pendulum Wars. So that is speculation on my part.--JacktheBlack 05:34, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Infobox picture Edit

I like this this one over the new one because it is in game, and has a closer view of his face. I think these promotional pictures should be used only when there is not a suitable in game alternative.--The Forgotten Jedi 23:21, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

I did not like the last image one since it seem low quality. --JacktheBlack 23:25, June 17, 2011 (UTC)
I agree, but this new one is rather far away and doesn't have a good view of his face.--The Forgotten Jedi 23:26, June 17, 2011 (UTC)
You think you can take screenshots from the gameplay videos with higher res?--JacktheBlack 23:29, June 17, 2011 (UTC)
Of Baird? No, he hasn't really had that much face time, and the video I got the one I prefer from only shows his face looking normal for about one second (it isn't so much low quality as much as it is quickly paused on a normal facial expression). What about Jace's picture?--The Forgotten Jedi 23:33, June 17, 2011 (UTC)
Jace picture can go back if you think the last image was better, but I really don't like the last Baird image.--JacktheBlack 23:36, June 17, 2011 (UTC)
No problem. I wouldn't change Sam's either. I really like the current info box picture. I think it's perfect.--The Forgotten Jedi 23:45, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

Baird's Sister Edit

Non-canon probably but usually these vids don't make crap up. Baird did mention he had a sister in the Gears of War: Judgment Overrun Tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvdf8tuBrI8&feature=player_embedded Dragonzzilla 01:02, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Seems a very sarcastic comment, let wait and see. BTW Baird's bio page on the Beginning of the video has a lot of goodies. --JacktheBlack 10:41, July 14, 2012 (UTC)
