The Locust Sniper Drones are expert marksmen who can always be found wielding the Longshot Sniper Rifle, and sometimes a Snub Pistol or Hammerburst. They have little to no armor in favor of more mobility. The use Infrared/Thermal goggles to help locate enemies. They use cover such as buildings and alleyways and can almost always be found at a vantage point. They are used to pin down enemies, and have been trained since birth to kill Gears. They can be very deadly if not checked as a single well-placed high caliber Longshot round can kill a Gear/Player, and should always be taken care of before advancing.
[edit] Fighting a Locust Sniper
Fighting a Locust Sniper is tricky because of their extreme long range capabilities. One thing players should always know, one good shot will quickly be game over for all on the other side of the rifle. You have the opportunity to rush them and overtake them when they are reloading.
Fighting several Locust Snipers is a much more difficult task for the player. They usually fire in shifts, where one fires and then ducks to reload while another pops up to shoot. This is the Locust version of the human tactic, "Rinse and Repeat". This also gives the player a very narrow window in which to attack the snipers. Like with the solo Sniper, try to get as close as you can, this means running in between their rounds of fire. Take cover as much as you can, and get them into range of your most powerful weapon. Trying to snipe them is also a challenge but works wonders if you're a good shot.

The sniper is available to play as in multiplayer from the start in both games. They will have orange goggles like Baird except more round and emit a orange glow. They will not have a shoulder piece armor.

Locust Snipers are very fond of using their Longshot Sniper Rifles "Sledgehammer" extended kill to finish off downed Gears.
