After the Mission to Mercy failed and Dom died, Marcus led his squad to Char which was decimated by the Hammer of Dawn Strikes. They soon run into ashes of people who were caught and killed by the Hammer strikes. Delta paid them their respects but are soon warned by Dizzy that someone had seen them.
Unfortunately he was right and Marcus and the rest of Delta squad were nearly killed by a few "accidents" until the man who was covered in ash launched an attack unaware that Delta squad was not hostile, but when Lambent stalks appeared they turn their attention to them and help Delta Squad fend them off.
Marcus corners Ash Man and tells him to not piss him off. Ash Man told Marcus that Aaron Griffin did not want any outsiders especially the COG, however Marcus didn't care and told him to take him and his squad to Griffin immediately. Finally going to his office, Marcus and Griffin had a little talk about Char which was damaged greatly by the Hammer strikes and how Griffin would give them the fuel they needed in exchange for them getting it from his refinery. Marcus was reluctant to trust him, so Griffin snapped his fingers and his guards brought in a captured Dizzy and Delta was given an hour to get Griffin's fuel shipment, and the cable car back. After defeating numerous Lambent, Delta Squad entered the refinery and called an elevator. However they discovered that Mercy wasn't the only place with former humans.
After killing the Formers, Marcus cut the safety cable and was ready to roll but got a message from Dizzy saying that Griffin's tower was under attack by Queen Myrrah and her Tempest. After starting the cable car, Marcus had to deal with two Gas Barges and fight their way up to the roof of the tower and realized that Myrrah left her guards behind which killed everyone but Delta Squad.
Finishing the last of the Locust, Dizzy was happy to see Marcus but Griffin on the other hand was furious and refused to give Marcus any fuel but stated that the COG were no better than the Locust, which pushed Marcus over the edge.
He grabed Griffin by the shoulder telling him that he lost his brother. Griffin leaves with the cable car and gives Marcus the middle finger. Anya then tells Marcus that the need to get the fuel back to the truck, the team leaves Char and heads for Endeavor.
