Maria Santiago is the wife of COG soldier Dominic Santiago. When Emergence Day struck, Maria became a victim as surely as if she had died in the first attack- when the Locust attacked, all of her children were killed. Unable to deal with the shock and loss, Maria lost herself in the ruins of the civilization. Although she went missing sometime after E-Day; Dom has not given up searching for her. He has contacts within the Stranded helping to look for her, in particular Franklin. Dom has a large heart tatooed on his right arm with her name set over it.

(Spoilers) As read in April's Game informer magazine, as the game begins a piece of intel from Anya sends the estranged husband Dominic Santiago and his best friend Marcus Fenix to a hospital where she may have been sighted.
