Gears of War: Barren tells the story of Alex Brand and her time with Delta-One. The story arc revolves around the return to Jilane, a place from Alex's youth where she imprisoned at a birthing farm. It is assumed this particular story arc is set between Gears of War: Hollow and Gears of War 2.

Part One[]

Main article: Gears of War: Barren Part One

Following a distress signal from the overrun city of Jilane, Delta Squad is dispatched to investigate with the help of a unique "scout" named Alex. The team, with the help of Sigma Squad, will explore one of the darker elements of the Gears universe, and to tell this unique and harrowing tale, series writer Joshua Ortega will be joined by Epic Games president Mike Capps!

Part Two[]

Delta has located survivors from the Jilane massacre, and it's a motley crew filled with far more people than expected! With an anticipated Locust attack, does Delta have the firepower to hold out until help arrives?

Part Three[]

The combined forces of Delta, Sigma and the Jilane survivors are in full-on "Alamo" mode as the Locust close in. Can Marcus and Alex rally the troops in the face of such overwhelming odds?

Part Four[]

Delta faces incredible odds as they're surrounded and absolutely out gunned by the Locust! With Marcus wounded, can Baird step into the mantle of leadership and find a way out?

With Marcus out of action, Damon Baird has taken command of Delta. Does Baird have what it takes to lead a wild mix of personalities and fighting abilities against a massive Locust onslaught?
