Gears of War: Barren tells the story of Alex Brand and her time with Delta-One. The story arc revolves around the return to Jilane, a place from Alex's youth where she imprisoned at a birthing farm. It is assumed this particular story arc is set between Gears of War:Hollow and Gears of War 2.

Part One

Following a distress signal from the overrun city of Jilane, Delta Squad is dispatched to investigate with the help of a unique "scout" named Alex. The team, with the help of Sigma Squad, will explore one of the darker elements of the Gears universe, and to tell this unique and harrowing tale, series writer Joshua Ortega will be joined by Epic Games president Mike Capps!

Delta has located survivors from the Jilane massacre, and it's a motley crew filled with far more people than expected! With an anticipated Locust attack, does Delta have the firepower to hold out until help arrives?

The combined forces of Delta, Sigma and the Jilane survivors are in full-on "Alamo" mode as the Locust close in. Can Marcus and Alex rally the troops in the face of such overwhelming odds?
