Thrashball is a map featured in Gears of War 3 multiplayer. It is highly symmetrical, with a dangling scoreboard in the middle marking what side a player is on. It was leaked in the June Issue of Game Informer along with Overpass.[1] The scoreboard can be shot down after a certain amount of time has passed in the match, killing any who are standing under it, and preventing access to either the Torque Bow or Digger Launcher, whichever is in play.[2]

The scoreboard also acts as a kill recorder. The Locust are the "Visitors" while the COG are the Cougars.

Strategies[]

Thrashball can be a very one sided map, if one team works together. Unlike some maps, where you'd separate and hold out. If the entire team goes up top to the Concessions Stand and holds it, they can make life pain for the enemy team. Holding the Stairs with Retros and gunning down anyone who comes up, and the rest covering behind the stands with Lancers (incase things go South). However, since the entire team is up top, the enemy team could take the majority of the power weapons, so be cautious.

Easter Egg[]

The Easter Egg in Thrashball is triggered by having a total of 100 kills as a team in a single round. For every 20 Kills, you will hear a noise from the scoreboard and on the 100th, Cole's rap from GOW can be heard.

Changes from the Beta to Retail[]

The spawn now has three exits – one up the ramp (as seen in the beta), an exit onto the low side field post and a side seating area exiting onto the stairs to concessions. Concessions and the VIP box have also had layout changes.[3]
