Speyer was a major industrial city in Tyrus, located near Tollen and the Tollen Dam. It was known as the heart of Coalition of Ordered Governments manufacturing and included many factories such as Speyer Metalworks, which produced Centaurs.
Speyer used to pride itself as the "heart of COG manufacturing".
History[]
Locust War[]
During the Locust War, Speyer was one of the COG's few surviving manufacturing centers. After the fall of Tollen Dam, which was the city's sole source of power, COG high command issued a work-stoppage and withdrawal order to its military manufacturing personnel there. Speyer was evacuated, and the COG personnel sent to Ilima for reassignment. Speyer was never re-occupied after the Locust War's end, and remained abandoned for decades.
Swarm War[]
After the war, the Tollen Dam was turned into a Locust burial site. When the Swarm emerged in 42 A.E., Speyer became a part of the dam's hive and was entirely occupied by the Swarm forces, which led to one of the first clashes of the Swarm War. The battle was the first instance of COG forces, DeeBees, coming into contact with the Swarm. Power was restored to the city when a group of Outsiders reactivated the Tollen Dam which allowed them to use Speyer's radio tower to call for backup.
