The Cyclops is a new variant of the standard drone introduced in Gears of War 2. What sets them apart from their allies are their trademark one-eye helmet and their preference to the Lancer Assault Rifle as opposed to the Hammerburst though sometimes they do have a Hammerburst. They are far more dangerous than their drone counterparts because of the lancer's high rate of fire and the threat the chainsaw bayonet poses at a close range. Extreme caution should be taken when dealing with them in close quarters. They can easily be subdued or deterred by the Lancer or Hammerburst but the Gnasher is the best way to deal with them because of its brutal stopping power and high damage per shot. If you are forced to deal with multiple cyclops at one time the best strategy is to fall back and attempt to engage them one at a time from cover. However, when faced with a charging cyclops the time to retreat has past and you will be forced to either melee it or engage in a chainsaw duel.

First introduced in Gears of War 2, they appear as enemies in campaign and Horde mode, and as playable characters in the multiplayer.

[edit] Glitches

If you are playing as a Cyclops in Multiplayer, you will notice that the Snub Pistol holstered on its thigh never actually moves. If you draw your pistol you will grab it and appear to have two, and if you holster a Boltok Pistol or a Gorgon Pistol it will overlap with the Snub. This is a glitch that occurs quite often in Gears of War. It happens because when Epic designed the models for these characters they added the holstered Snub Pistol by default when they're supposed to be two separate models.

[edit] Trivia

This armor can be bought for your Avatar on the Avatar Marketplace for 320 Microsoft points and the helmet for 160 Microsoft points.
