Aspho Gas Station

From Gears of War

(Redirected from Chap's Gas Station)
Chap's Gas Station at night

Aspho Gas Station[1] also know as Chap's Gas Station is the location of Laverne in the Act 2: Nightfall chapter, Powder Keg. It is owned and operated by an old man named Chap, hence the name. Its location is mentioned only once by Franklin:

"Chap's gas station corner of F-street and 13th"
Franklin

It is interesting to note that it is also mentioned as Aspho gas station, maybe because that area of Ephyra is known as Aspho, in much the same way as, say, Manhattan is an area in New York.

This gas station was also the location of a fierce firefight that occurred when Marcus and Dom were fueling the Junker to escape in. When the fight was over and the Junker was fueled, Chap, Marcus and Dom leave in it, running over a Boomer as they drove off to the Franklin's Outpost. The Boomer fired a Boomshot as a final attempt to stop Laverne, and he failed. Instead, the round was shot at the pumps, and it detonated the entire station.

[edit] Location Overview

After Emergence Day, many people were left behind. This gas station provides a refuge of light from the surrounding darkness at night for the local Stranded. The station itself is comprised of several gas pumps and a small armory which contains Longshots, Frag Grenades and some boxes of ammunition. It also has several knocked over pillars, which provide cover for the fire fight which took place here.

[edit] History

Before Emergence Day, it would have acted as any gas station does today, with the exception of using Imulsion as fuel. As Imulsion would have been required to operate the station , it suggests that Chap's Gas Station and Ephyra are located in a country which contained a significant quantity of Imulsion during and after the Pendulum Wars.

[edit] Trivia

Chap's Gas Station is a multiplayer map named Fuel Station in Gears of War 2. It is included in the Combustible Map Pack as well as Gold Rush and Flood.
