[edit] Look Sensitivity

Look sensitivity on Gears Of War isn't that critical compared to games like Halo.

[edit] Advantages On High Sensitivity

  • You can turn around faster

If there is a fast moving enemy it's easier

[edit] Advantages on Low Sensitivity

  • Better Sniping aim
  • You get more control with any weapon like pistols and assault rifles
  • Both of the above are general rules, as the same level of control can be maintained by a skilled player.

[edit] Wall Bouncing

Wall Bouncing really just lives up to its name. While your in a shotgun or sniper fight it is good to swiftly switch walls. It makes it a harder shot to hit you from other players guns. Wall bouncing is a biggie when it comes to Gears of war Survival skills. Another type of wall tactic is the weapon slide. Also if your having a shotgun battle faking out your opponent is best by faking wall bouncing by pressing B and A.

[edit] Sniping

Sniping is the act of covertly eliminating targets from a concealed position, preferably far away, as to reduce the chances of being located. It is an essential battlefield tactic in any form of combat. When correctly executed, sniping can achieve not only kills, but a sense of demoralization and disarray among your enemy combatants.

[edit] Counter Sniping

Perhaps the most important part of sniping, is counter-sniping. A Sniper's very first duty is to terminate an enemy sniper as quickly as possible without being killed in the process.

[edit] Counter Sniping Tips

  • Keep under cover.
  • Sometimes it is best if you do not shoot other players until the sniper is eliminated if you want to stay alive. If you shoot with a sniper, the shot is very noticeable, attracting attention from the enemy sniper.
  • If you do shoot other players or if the enemy sniper survives your shot, then move to a secondary hiding place. Get out of your hiding spot and jump somewhere else.
  • Always be thinking, strategy is a big part, think of all probable variables.

[edit] Movement

The number one rule about being a sniper in multiplayer is to keep moving. Whether you're strafing or moving from spot to spot, you should always be moving, especially if the other team knows where you are. Never allow the enemy to pin you in, and always position yourself to view the most of the battlefield. You must keep the enemy guessing, and fearing wherever you may be. The Snipers role is almost as much a psychological one as a physical one. If the enemy fears walking into your view then you have succeeded. An effective sniper can change the entire tone of a match. Standing still with the sniper will make you an easy target, unless you have very good cover. If you are in the open, strafing can make you less of a target

[edit] When you fire

Always remember to lead the target, with greater leads the farther you are from your mark. So always shoot where your target is going. The bullet takes time to travel to a mark, and a seconds lead can be the deciding factor in a kill. If you miss, immediately move from your current location, reloading only after you have settled down. While in transit to your next roost, switch to your secondary weapon. A sniper's secondary weapon should be a CQB or mid-range weapon, such as your shotgun.Keep that weapon reloaded at all times, and use it only in close quarters combat. An effective sniper will never need to use this weapon, but never underestimate its use.

[edit] Blindfires

Blindfires are for less skilled players who are unable to get or unwilling to try for headshots. Most people who blind fire "pre-active" (getting an active reload prior to engaging an enemy for increased bullet damage) to ensure an easy kill or one-shot down. Some players even go so far as to put tape or draw a circle on their TV screen or monitor in the area where the bullet will hit. Blindfires, you dont even press a button. its just a random shot without pressing the L button. It sounds hard but in some situations its very easy.

[edit] When you Fire

Always make sure that the enemies head is in the middle of your screen while blindfiring. It's really not good when you're blindfiring in an open spot because you're easily visible for other people to kill you. For example right in the middle of any map like Fuel Depot and Gridlock. It is always good to blindfire in tight spaces because it's easier to get a hit. One example of a tight spot is on Canals on any of the bridges.
