- "Shoot me? Because I saw that news from from Bonbourg, and ... I refuse to let them do that to me."
- —Margaret Hoffman giving her husband Victor Hoffman permission to kill her if the Locust attack Jacinto.[1]
The Battle of Bonbourg was a battle that took place after E-Day but before the Hammer of Dawn strikes across Sera. The media was able to report what happened in the city, leading Margaret Hoffman into thinking suicide was a better option than letting the Locust capture her.
The Locust began the assualt by opening E-holes three miles out of the city and let Seeders fire mortars at the city. Because of the Seeders Dury sent out nearly all his King Ravens to tackle the Seeders whilst preparing for attack. Dury ordered three of his companies to assist the civilians evacuating long the elevated highway, but that was a mistake. two Corpsers collapsed the Highway and slaughtered the civilians that fell.
Back in the city the Onyx guard were fighting the Locust, but were losing ground fast. Meanwhile Red 2 was evacuating a group of civilians when they came across a news crew broadcasting live that were filming the event, citizens across the surviving world were shocked that the Onyx guard was fighting instead of Gears. What happened next would shock them even more, Locust drones ambushed them and began beating the civilians to death. The news crew filmed it all and were quickly incapacitated along the the Onyx guard and civilians. The camera which had been dropped on the floor fimed the drones tearing apart every civilian and raping the women.
