Echo Squad was conducting an urban patrol in Ephyra city when Locust forces ambushed them in Sovereigns Boulevard. Locust forces, led by a Boomer which was described as one of the biggest ever seen,^[4] pinned down Echo squad in the mall, killing Harrie and badly wounding David until rescue from Delta-One. Sgt.Fenix had "explored" the area when he was younger, and was able to find an ideal ambush site for the Boomer thus saving the remains of Echo Squad.

After the short skirmish, Harrie's Lancer was collected by Rossi and ex-Gear Bernadette Mataki emerged from the shadows,^[5] while David was evacuated.
